Between October and November, the water starts to heat up and, during our outings at sea, it will not be difficult to meet the “eating”. The water that seems to boil, a multitude of crazy bonitos that jump over the surface of the sea to hunt for sardines; above the birds, gulls, goshawks and frigates dive to get a nibble at the same banquet, and is between this “chaos” that, if you look carefully, comes HIM, the biggest fish in the world, as well as curious and totally harmless … THE WHALE SHARK! Recognizable from the caudal or dorsal fin that emerges from the water, or distinguishable from above … a silhouette covered with many white dots almost like a “starry sky”, not surprisingly its name in the Malagasy language “marokintana” means many stars .
In the waters of Nosy Be the Whale Shark still enjoys excellent health, and to preserve his presence we will respect it without touching it and without disturbing it, but with a mask and fins and sliding gently into the water we could observe it and swim with him for a unique experience of its kind! The Whale Shark will keep us company until January, but the peak of its sighting will have it in November.
